Jacobo Fontán gives Galicia the most wanted victory of CSI2 * A Coruña, the Prosegur Grand Prix

Jacobo Fontán got the Galician got a brilliant victory in the Prosegur Grand Prix, the most valuable class of the 2* event held this weekend in A Coruña. The rider from Vigo experienced 38.81 unforgettable seconds as he completed a faultless course with ColtaireIn the end, victory with Galician flavor and a 100% Spanish podium.

"The jump off was so fast that there was not much to think about, or anything to lose," explained Jacobo after the lap of honor. Regarding Coltaire, he underlined the good evolution during this contest: "In the first course today the horse went great, confidence increased since the first day, when we had some problems". It was this horse’s first time jumping 1,45 meters. "I had seen him in other small speed classes and I know he is very agile”.

In total, eleven pairs classified for the jump off, of which nine were Spanish. Teresa Blázquez-Abascal and Ismael García Roque were, along with the winner, the only ones who finished their course clear. With Teresa, Tornado V lived up to its name and set 41.71 seconds right after the start of the class. Alejandro Entrecanales, Wael Mahgary (Egypt), Cristina Orruño, Tania Moody (Great Britain)... Minutes went by and fences kept falling, and no one managed to overshadow Teresa.

However, Ismael García Roque was still podium-hungry after his victory in the Engel&Völkers Trophy and his third place in the Lexus Trophy. The rider from Gran Canaria relied on his 12 year old mare Airline R, his first winner in A Coruña contest, and stopped the clock without penalties at 40,08 seconds. This entailed an even more challenging goal for those who came after: Ainhoa Manero, José Fumero and Álex Codina tried, but they failed.

And the rest of the story was written, encouraged by hundreds of throats, by Jacobo Fontán. Second place for Ismael and third for Teresa Blázquez-Abascal. José Fumero finished a great contest with the fourth place, while Tania Moody made a valuable fifth in this Grand Prix.
