Nirvana Hank dominates the ClipMyHorse.TV Trophy and the DHL Grand Prix at CSI1* A Coruña
The final day of CSI A Coruña got underway at the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre with a dominant performance by Nirvana Hank Amaya. The young Mexican rider triumphed in the final two CSI1* classes, held on Sunday morning.
First, she won the ClipMyHorse.TV Trophy with “Manna Hacal” and, shortly afterwards, secured another victory in the DHL Grand Prix, the most important event of the 1* competition, riding “Iztaccihuatl Hacal”. Nirvana Hank Amaya thus put the finishing touch to a brilliant performance over the three days of CSI1*, during which she secured three victories and was consistently among the best.
The DHL Grand Prix – Champagne Malard Trophy was contested by 21 pairs, and only four managed to complete the course, featuring obstacles 1.40 metres high, without faults.
In the jump-off, the Mexican rider repeated her clear round in 36.98 seconds, and only one Spanish rider, Marcos Díaz Rodríguez, with a magnificent round riding “Deus de Tus”, threatened Nirvana’s victory. However, the Asturian was unable to beat her time of 38.88 seconds, which left him in second place in the final standings.
The other two pairs competing in the jump-off had rails down, as they needed to ride very fast to beat Nirvana Hank. Spain’s Lucía Fernández Hidalgo finished fourth with 4 points on “Kings Queen JT Z”, a mare that has only recently joined her stable, while Gonzalo Busca had two rails down on “Ouija”, also finishing in fourth place. In fifth place, with the fastest time among those who had one rail down in the previous round, was the Asturian junior Daniel Ocaña, riding “Dancing de L’Enclos”.
Nirvana Hank Amaya received her trophy from Miriam Gagna, CEO of DHL Express in Spain, while Enrique Mateo Ortuño, CEO of Mateo Wines, presented the additional Champagne Malard prize to Marcos Díaz Rodríguez as the best Spanish rider in the DHL Grand Prix.
ClipMyHorse.TV Trophy
Sunday’s programme had begun with the ClipMyHorse.TV Trophy, a timed competition in which Nirvana Hank Amaya kicked off her brilliant morning at Casas Novas, this time riding “Manna Hacal”.
Based in the United States and trained by Spanish rider Gonzalo Busca, the young Mexican rider once again came out on top with her 10-year-old grey mare, this time ahead of two Spanish pairs who had also been among the best throughout the competition: Manuel Pérez Morillo from Valladolid, second with the young “Uleandro vd Slypshoek”, who is just 6 years old, and Miguel Álvarez-Buylla, third riding “Roxanne V”.
Patricia Fernández-Valdés, ClipMyHorse.TV Spain Director, presented the trophy to Nirvana Hank Amaya as the winner of the class.
With these two CSI1* classes now completed, the international show jumping competition programme continues at the Casas Novas Equestrian Centre with the final two CSI4* classes. First up is the Prosegur Security Trophy, at a height of 1.45 metres, followed by the Casas Novas Grand Prix, the Marqués de Riscal Trophy, at 1.60 metres.
