Spanish podium at the Casas Novas Grand Prix Marqués de Riscal Trophy, brilliantly won by Iván Serrano

Iván Serrano was the brilliant winner of the Casas Novas Grand Prix Marqués de Riscal Trophy, the most important event at CSI4* A Coruña 2026. The Basque rider and “Rain Man” triumphed in the jump-off of the competition, contested over 1.60-metre fences, with a spectacular round.

On Friday, they had already won the first major class at CSI4* A Coruña 2026, the CaixaBank Trophy, and they rounded off the competition by winning the third day’s class, a high-calibre Grand Prix that was decided in a jump-off for which 15 pairs qualified and in which only five managed a clear round. Among them, Iván Serrano and “Rain Man” stood out with a time of 40.58 seconds, well ahead of the rest.

The bold rider from Biscay, who is based at Yeguada del Pas in Cantabria and has a wealth of experience, as does his veteran horse “Rain Man”, took risks in the jump-off as if it were a less demanding class, and his strategy paid off perfectly, setting a time that proved unbeatable for the rest of the field.

The podium at the Casas Novas Grand Prix was an all-Spanish affair, with Bautista Rodríguez Debray finishing second on “Vivoulette HD” in 43.56 seconds and Pilar Lucrecia Cordón third on “Pica Pica Z” in 44.69 seconds.

The other two double clears in the class came from Maikel Van der Vleuten, fourth with “Jesther” in 48.08 seconds, and another Spanish pair, Carlos López-Fanjul Tartiere with “Jourdain VDL” in 49.06 seconds.

The summer edition of CSI A Coruña 2026 was rounded off in style with the Casas Novas Grand Prix trophy presentation ceremony, at which Iván Serrano received his trophy as winner of the class from Flora Pérez. Iván Serrano was also awarded the Marqués de Riscal Trophy, presented by Verónica Fernández de Córdoba, Board Member of Marqués de Riscal. Both were accompanied by Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport.

Prosegur Security Trophy

The penultimate class of the competition was the Prosegur Security Trophy, a pure speed class under Table C rules, in which each knockdown incurs a 4-second penalty added to the time. And when it comes to speed, the ever-fast Emanuele Gaudiano was the clear favourite, and he lived up to expectations.

The Italian gave his rivals no respite from start to finish, galloping with tremendous intensity from the start line to the finish line on “Vasco 118”, with whom he stopped the clock at 56.82 seconds, while Colombian rider Santiago Díaz Ortega completed his round in 57.54 seconds on “Chasspleen Flamingo Z”, taking second place.

Third place in the final standings went to the rider who had gone head-to-head with Gaudiano on Saturday in both CSI4* classes held that day: Marlon Modolo Zanotelli. The Brazilian clocked a time of 58.31 seconds on “Rockwell RC”, with two Spanish pairs finishing behind him: Pello Elorduy on “Champenoise de Rampán” and Julio Arias on “Sienna de Brandegem”.

At the trophy presentation ceremony, the winner, Emanuele Gaudiano, received his trophy from Javier Martín Azcano, Central Region Director of Prosegur Security, accompanied by Álvaro Arrieta, president of Oxer Sport.
